NOVEMBER 19, 2022
WEEK ELEVEN OF THE 2022 SEASON!

THE VIKINGS WIN SEVEN IN A ROW!
NOW THEY'RE LEGIT!

I heard it last Sunday after the Vikings won their game.  One of the sportscasters said something like, "It seems the Vikings are legit."  Finally our winning team gets some recognition!

Thanksgiving Day is almost here.  Our national observance began when on October 3, 1863, Abraham Lincoln said in a speech, "I do therefore invite my fellow citizens in every part of the United States, and also those who are at sea and those who are sojourning in foreign lands, to set apart and observe the last Thursday of November next, as a day of Thanksgiving and Praise to our beneficent Father who dwelleth in the Heavens."

Lincoln declared a day to give recognition to God for our blessings and bounties, which he said, "are so constantly enjoyed that we are prone to forget the source from which they come."  Our hearts, Lincoln said, are "habitually insensible to the ever watchful providence of Almighty God."

It's true.  We can become insensitive to all that God gives to us.  We can take for granted our blessings and bounties.  So we set aside a time to give recognition to God on Thursday, November 24, 2022.  This is a day, a whole day - not just a prayer before the big meal - an entire day   of Thanksgiving and Praise to our God.

Every Sunday we give thanksgiving and praise to God during morning worship at 10 a.m.  We look at our lives in context of God's providence, guidance and care, and we are inspired to live as God's people.

Our Sunday school kids age 3 to grade 5 continue to meet each Sunday during worship. Hospitality Time is served after worship.  And we accomplish it all before the Vikings play at noon (or 3:25 p.m. in the case of this Sunday).

It's a great time to be in the game at church.

See you Sunday!
You're part of Team Jesus!

PASTOR DAVID'S MESSAGE TOMORROW

THE WORD OF THE SEASON IS "THANKING".

REMOVE FOUR LETTERS AND YOU GET "KING".

THAT IS THE CHURCH'S WORD FOR THE SEASON.

PASTOR DAVID'S MESSAGE WILL INCLUDE A GREAT TALE THAT HELPS US TO UNDERSTAND WHAT IT MEANS FOR JESUS TO BE OUR KING.

BECAUSE AS WE KNOW, JESUS WASN'T LIKE ANY OTHER KING WE'RE FAMILIAR WITH.
ONE LAST DAY WITH THE QUILT!
Come and get up close and personal with the Lake City Community Quilt, created for Lake City's 150th Celebration.  The quilt is double sided and is full of artistic talent and community spirit!  This photo was taken in the entryway of our church where the quilt is on display for Sunday, and then it moves on.
SUNDAY SCHOOL IS COOL!
Our Sunday school welcomes all kids kids age 3 to grade 5. Kids remain in worship each Sunday morning until their "Time For Kids" with Pastor David, and then they go downstairs to their learning space.
See you Sundays at 10 a.m.!

WEDNESDAYS, 6:30-7:30 P.M.

HOSPITALITY TIME IS ON!

STAY A WHILE AFTER WORSHIP.

AND SIGN UP TO SERVE.
SERVING HOSPITALITY CAN BE VERY SIMPLE AND FUN.
THE BEST SEASON TO SING!

Christmas is the best season for choir music, and the choir plans to share music in worship in December every Sunday before Christmas.
Our rehearsals are on select Wednesdays, 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.

We will be singing some terrific arrangements for 2-part mixed choir, which are ideal for our size of group.
Our choir welcomes singers to join us.  We use recorded music and piano to help us learn the songs.  You can even practice the songs at home with online music in between our regular Wednesday night rehearsals.
We rehearse two to three Wednesdays each month and we sing in morning worship two to three Sundays each month.
If you are interested in singing with us, please call the church at 651-345-3865 and leave a message with your phone number, or email us at lakecityucc.org.
